About me

'Counselling isn't for me'...

This is what I used to think, and that counselling was for girls!!  But here I am on the other side of that, and now a Counsellor.  Roll back to 2009 and I was the one receiving counselling. I'd become so sick of the life I'd created, one that was full of alcohol, anxiety and very little self-confidence, which was all strategically covered over with a party-boy attitude, work hard, and go out and party harder.

But by aged 33, I'd hit a wall, I stopped kidding myself and knew I had a drinking problem, my two ex-wives and my parents had told me often enough but finally I admitted it.  So I plucked up the courage to go to see my doctor and I declared that I had a drinking problem.  "Just stop drinking" was his reply - how insightful and helpful indeed. When I said it wasn't that easy and surely there's more help available, I was offered counselling but on a 9-12month waiting list. So I found a private therapist and started my own counselling journey of transformation over many months of showing up, getting it all out there in the open and facing my demons and working on beating them in helpful ways.

And now, with nearly 16 years sobriety, I am here to help others.  That one courageous step of wanting to change my ways was taken and my life really did transform, not overnight of course, and it wasn't easy either but over time, the counselling process and doing the work in the sessions and outside of sessions, I got to a better place.  And I want to help you now.

I have the lived experience of a reliance on booze and choice drugs, of feeling crap about myself, of disordered binge & purge eating, excessive exercise, panic attacks, zero confidence, body dysmorphia issues, low self-worth, of divorces and endless wrong relationships because I never liked my own company - I have been through it all and come out the other side and I look back on the old me as completely alien to me now.

You too can transform your current self to a level where you will look back in amazement.   Since 2009, I have transformed my body & mind, I have married (for the 3rd & last time) and have 3 children, and I have built an asbestos business (Omega Asbestos Consulting Ltd) from month 1 sales of £0 to annual sales of £4million, and in March 2025 I sold Omega to fully focus on Two Lives, and it's 3C's of Counselling, Coaching and Community - building a place to help people.  I believe I have the credibility and experience to help you transform yourself and your life.

I started studying counselling at level 2 in January 2022, at night-classes, just out of interest.  This led to doing Level 3 and then I went on to study the 2yr FdA Degree in Counselling whilst building to sell Omega and change career after 30yrs of asbestos work.  My counselling experience comprises working with clients from aged 6 to 63, and covers a variety of issues including anxiety, addictions, confidence, trauma and grief. My approach to counselling is pluralistic which means that I use the techniques and skills which I think best suit the client, their problem and their objectives.  My process is primarily person-centred however I commonly use CBT, solution-focused therapy, and Psychodynamic theory alongside.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) (member no. 01015682) and also a Registrant on the BACP Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (Registered Member no. 416171).
